Urban Character: Case Study 3

Case Study 3 depicts a scenario in which the ground floor is not retail, but office instead. It is still important to provide interest while not necessarily inviting pedestrians to window-shop. Here, only a limited amount of glazing meets the sidewalk, while the rest is buffered by elevated planters.

The lobby entrance is designed to have a strong presence, while the canopies & tilting walls create dynamic form, evocative of a rock outcropping. The materials at the base are such that they weather gracefully over time, while the upper facade remains more standard.
